Job Title:Preschool Lead  Teacher


This position is for a Lead 18 month - 2.5 year old classroom at our Madison location.
 

Qualifications 

Professional: 

Minimum of a High School diploma or GED

CDA or Associates degree in Child Development and/or related field

Current Infant/Child/Adult CPR & First Aid

Basic computer navigation skills

 

Personal:

Be at least 18 years old and posses a state identification card or drivers license.

Relate sensitively to people of all ages and varied backgrounds

Demonstrate knowledge of child development

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with parents and co-workers

Use supervision constructively and to work as a member of a team

Interested in upgrading qualifications through professional development

 

Physically:

Perform physical tasks including but not limited to: mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, sanitizing materials, changing pullups

Able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds

Able to safely carry classroom cots and children under care as necessary

Able to move furniture as needed

Able to stand and sit on the floor for extended periods

 

Responsibilities:

Classroom:

  1. Ensure that each child feels welcome.  Greet each parent and child upon entering or leaving for the day.

  2. Return all unconsumed supplies to the supply closet as appropriate.

  3. Lead Teacher will work with Assistant teacher in that the classroom meets licensing, safety, and health requirements.  This includes but is not limited to maintaining classroom, materials and equipment in a clean and safe condition.

  4. Perform duties such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sanitizing materials and clean restrooms daily.

  5. Attend to children's basic needs (assisting with bathroom accidents, runny noses, etc.) and provide for the children’s physical, emotional, intellectual and social growth.

 

Professionalism:

  1. Model appropriate behavior and speech patterns at all times for children to imitate.

  2. Communicate effectively, positively and with appropriate professional speech and annunciation patterns when speaking with adults.

  3. Notify the Director and classroom teachers as soon as possible of any unplanned absences.

  4. Complete accident reports at the Director’s request.

  5. Participate in staff meetings and staff development activities.  Following the professional development plan created with Director’s assistance.

  6. Check personal office “mailbox” daily on arrival and departure.

  7. Participate in special events of the school, i.e. open house, classroom programs, as directed.

  8. Adhere to all Employee Policies and Procedures and Director’s Instructions.

 

Curriculum:

  1. Lead Teacher will work with Assistant teacher and Curriculum Coach in conducting a developmentally appropriate program of educational activities in accordance with the Premier philosophy and curriculum.

  2. Work closely with Assistant Teacher to understand the goals and objectives of the program.

  3. Follow posted daily schedule.

  4. Carry out posted lesson plans.
